Lip Service - Racy lesbian show on BBC

Lip Service - Racy lesbian show on BBC

Its hot and its got a whole lot of girl on girl action but the new racy drama on BBC has come under fire for its graphic lesbian content.

Lip Service, which will broadcast on BBC Three next month, has already set tongues wagging thanks to its sexplicit girl-on-girl bedroom scenes.

The controversial series stars `Vanilla Sky` star Laura Fraser and former `Hollyoaks` beauty Roxanne McKee.

"Lip Service has the same buzz as Queer As Folk but might prove too edgy. There are a lot of naked sex scenes between women. Bosses think it`s too explicit for BBC1 - so they`re starting it on Three," News of the World quoted an insider as saying.

"Is this an attempt by the BBC to try and gain ratings?" added the insider.

Talking about an orgasm she has in a lesbian scene, Roxanne said: "It turns into a When Harry Met Sally moment. I was encouraged to make it a lot louder than it would ever be in real life."

All we can ask is, “when does it come on?”

3D Wonderbra ad distracting drivers

3D Wonderbra ad distracting driversA 3D advertisement by bra company Wonderbra, which features a well-enhanced woman’s cleavage, is being considered a road safety hazard, as it can be distracting for drivers.

The poster, which has been erected near London Waterloo station to promote the company’s new 28 pounds Full Effect brassiere, could cause accidents, warns the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

Wonderbra had caused a quite a stir when, 16 years ago, they revealed a poster of Czech model Eva Herzigova in a Wonderbra, gazing down at her breasts with the caption “Hello Boys”.

And even though the poster was voted No10 in a ‘Poster of the Century’ contest, the picture of Herzigova’s pushed-up assets was blamed for dozens of road accidents.

Vince Yearley, a spokesman for IAM, said that the latest poster for Full Effect, ‘Wonderbra’s best cleavage enhancer to date’, which is 20ft wide and stars Brazilian model Sabraine Banado, could be more of a distraction.

“I remember that Herzigova picture very well - I was working at the Department for Transport at the time,” the Daily Mail quoted Yearley as saying.

“In many ways this latest one could be more dangerous, as it’s 3D.

“For those motorists who don’t happen to have 3D glasses in their car - and most don’t - then as the image is slightly blurred, it will cause you to want to focus on it even more.

“I think it will be a distraction for men and women on the road. And you just need to lose concentration briefly while on the road and an accident could happen,” he stated.

Road Safety Minister Mike Penning said that road safety was a top priority and the Highway Code is clear that safe driving needs concentration and motorists must be in proper control of their vehicle at all times.

A spokeswoman for The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents added that while there is no concern with the advert so far, they would however be interested in knowing if it has caused any road accidents.

“As an iconic lingerie brand the 3D billboard is the perfect way to launch the campaign for our new bra, it brings to life the product’s benefits in a bold and exciting way,” Julia Nolan from Wonderbra said of the campaign.

An unhealthy obsession with celebrity culture

celebrity culture is damaging KidsAn unhealthy obsession with celebrity culture is damaging the academic success of British students, a survey of teachers has found, with celebrity couple the Beckhams the favourite inspiration.

Many students are ignoring career aspirations to pursue the chance of fame instead, the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) survey found.

Almost two-thirds of teachers said sports stars were the type of celebrity most pupils wanted to emulate while more than half of students wanted to be pop stars.

The celebrities students aspired to be most like, the survey said, were Los Angeles-based David and Victoria Beckham, arguably Britain's most famous couple.

Soccer player "Becks" topped the poll, with more than half the teachers saying their students modelled themselves on the 32 year-old. In second place, with almost a third of the poll's vote, was his 33 year-old wife and pop star "Posh".

In an era of reality television "stars" and a media fixation with celebrities, a majority of teachers sd ceailebrity culture negatively impacted the aspirations of their pupils.

Many bemoaned students who "wanted to be famous for being famous".

Almost half of the 300 teachers polled said pupils tried to look like and/or behave like celebrities they most admired, fuelling fears that girls particularly dressed in "unsuitable", or provocative styles.

"We are not surprised about infiltration of celebrity culture in schools - it reflects the current media obsession with celebrity and the effect of celebrity culture on society as a whole," Association of Teachers and Lecturers general secretary Mary Bousted said in a statement.

"Celebrities can have a positive effect on pupils. They can raise pupils' aspirations and ambitions for the future.

"However ... celebrity culture can perpetuate the notion that celebrity status is the greatest achievement and reinforces the belief that other career options are not valuable."

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard ranked third on the favourites list with 26 percent, actress Keira Knightley fourth (25 percent) and "Doctor Who" star David Tennant fifth (23 percent).

Other celebrities on the list included US heiress and socialite Paris Hilton (sixth) and Leona Lewis, a winner of Britain's "The X Factor" television talent show (ninth).

One primary school teacher from Scunthorpe, in the country's northeast, Elizabeth Farrar, said: "Too many of the pupils believe that academic success is unnecessary, because they will be able to access fame and fortune quite easily through a reality TV show."
