LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears and Kevin Federline reached a settlement in their divorce Thursday, a spokesman for Federline's attorney said. After a five-hour meeting with their attorneys present, Spears and Federline signed "a global settlement on all issues of their marriage," said Michael Sands, a spokesman for Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan.
Sands declined to elaborate on terms of the settlement, saying only that it covers child custody and financial matters.
Spears' attorney, Laura Wasser, declined to comment.
The settlement came more than a week after Spears checked out of a luxurious rehab center. During her nearly one-month stay at Promises Malibu Alcohol and Drug Rehab Treatment Facility, Spears and Federline were under a temporary agreement that gave them joint custody of their two young sons.
When Britney Spears filed for divorce on Nov. 7, the pop star cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending her two-year marriage to Federline. She sought custody of the children, with visitation rights for Federline.
Federline counter-filed court papers the following day seeking sole custody of their boys — 6-month-old Jayden James and 18-month-old Sean Preston — and for spousal support.

The album, "Como Ama una Mujer," or "How a Woman Loves," was released Tuesday and was mainly produced by her husband.
Lopez has said singing in Spanish has been a career-long goal of hers.

WASHINGTON - Presidential candidate
Hillary Rodham Clinton declared Wednesday that if you look up the word "feminist" in a dictionary, you'll find her
Clinton received the endorsement of the
National Organization for Women, a group of half a million members who support feminist candidates for elective office.
Asked if she viewed herself as a feminist, Clinton said by the standard definition, yes.
"If you look in the dictionary, the word feminist means someone who believes in equal rights for women in society, in the economy, the political process — generally believes in the equality of women. And I certainly believe in the equality of women," she said.
Her response was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.
The New York senator and Democratic front-runner has launched a nationwide outreach to women voters, who are a majority of the electorate. The NOW endorsement was expected, and the Clinton campaign hopes the group's membership will strengthen the ranks of campaign volunteers and supporters.
The senator is trying to smash the highest glass ceiling in the nation by becoming the first woman elected president. Part of a generation of women who expanded opportunities for women in the workplace, she has sought to frame her current campaign as a historic event.
"This is really an emotional moment for me," Clinton said, noting that when her own mother was born, U.S. women did not have the right to vote.
Kim Gandy, chair of NOW's political action committee, said the group "will help elect feminist candidates to the House and Senate who will work with
President Clinton to undo the damage done by the Bush administration."
Clinton praised the group's decades of work on women's issues.
"By organizing and mobilizing you have helped change every woman's future, whether she knows it or not. And you have widened the circle of opportunity for all Americans," Clinton said.
Other high-profile women are also lining up to support her.
Billie Jean King, the tennis star, formally endorsed Clinton Wednesday. Such moves are part of the Clinton campaign's "Women for Hillary" effort.
Democrat Geraldine Ferraro, who in 1984 was the first female vice presidential candidate on a major party ticket, sent an e-mail fundraising solicitation on behalf of Clinton.
"It's been 23 years since I was the first woman on a major party presidential slate, and I remember what it was like breaking that barrier — including the barrage of attacks at the hands of the Republicans," Ferraro wrote. "Now Hillary is poised to break the biggest glass ceiling of them all. This time, when we elect the best, most qualified candidate for president, for the first time we'll be putting a woman in the White House."

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico - Jessica Simpson has donated a new minivan to an orphanage in this border city.
Dozens of cheering children greeted the singer and actress Sunday as she arrived at the Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, just across the border from Laredo, Texas, in a white 2007 Chrysler minivan that she had won at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Simpson, accompanied by her mother and father, who is also her manager, gave the keys to Guadalupe Carmona, the orphanage's founder and director. Shestayed for about 40 minutes, posing for photos with the children and signing autographs.
"We're really happy," said Carmona, known as Mama Lupita. "This is the second time she has visited us."
Last fall, Simpson won a Chrysler Crossfire sports car at the MTV awards, but exchanged the $50,000 luxury car for a minivan so she could help the orphanage, Carmona said.
Simpson first visited the orphanage in 1996 and last month announced she would donate a car, Carmona said. But few expected Simpson to deliver it in person.
Simpson, whose songs include "I Wanna Love You Forever" and "Irresistible," also has appeared in the MTV reality show "Newlyweds" with now-ex husband
Nick Lachey and in the movie "The Dukes of Hazzard."
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are set to record a duet to rescue her faltering pop career.
Justin – who first met Britney while starring on children's TV show The Mickey Mouse Club and dated her for four years until 2002 – is confident the record can help rebuild her faltering pop career and get her back on track
A source said: "Britney was extremely touched that Justin had been in contact. Going into the studio is Justin's way of helping her get better."
The pair are planning to visit a Los Angeles recording studio this week with producer Timbaland to re-record the Motown classic You're All I Need to Get By, originally a hit for Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell in 1968.
Earlier this month, Timbaland approached Justin to plead for him to help propel Britney back to the top of the charts.
He said: "I feel her pain, it really bothers me. I asked Justin, 'How would you feel about me working with Britney? Would you do it with me?' He said he would."
Britney checked out of Malibu's Promises rehab centre last week. Shortly before she was admitted, she shocked the showbiz world with her bizarre behaviour which included shaving her head.
Meanwhile, Britney has splashed out US$8 million on a Malibu mansion and paid an extra $1 million to move in the same day.
The singer, who bid $9.2 million for the property, decided to keep the mansion's garish animal print furniture.
A source said: "She was hungry to bring some normality to her family life. As soon as she saw it she outbid all the rival buyers. Then she persuaded the owners to move out immediately."
